Yep you read it right, this gardening technique uses fish poo to fertilize your garden and grow your food 4 times faster than conventional methods. Not only that, this new method of gardening doesn’t use any soil what-so-ever which mean NO WEEDS! Wohoo!

"I’ve just built my own aquaponics system. It was simple and it looks and works just like the ones that cost thousands more."

Fish waste is recycled into nitrates which feeds the plants and the plants clean the water for the fish. When the plants are well watered and well fed using this method, they will often grow twice as fast as those grown in soil. And because we’re not using soil, the roots don’t need to dig very deep to find water and plants can be grown close together using much less space.

Formal scientific interest in the combining of aquaculture and hydroponics started in the mid-1970s with numerous research papers being published. Since then aquaponics systems and techniques have been streamlined and perfected to the point that anyone can use aquaponics at home to grow their own vegetables, fruits and fish just by following our easy, do-it-yourself aquaponics method.

100% Hands Off – This is truly a set and forget system. Once you’ve set it up you can sit sit back while the fish provide nutrients and the plants keep the water clean.

Virtually maintenance free – The system is extremely simple to maintain making it perfect for the modern lifestyle.

No More Weeding – Grow beds are placed up high off the ground where weeds can’t spread and because of the nature of the media in the grow beds there’s very little to allow new weeds to sprout.

No More Dirt – This means there is nothing to till, plow, hoe or rake. Happy days!

No More Manure – Because this system works without the use of soil there is no need to add fertilizer because the fish do it automatically.

No Soil-borne Pests or Diseases – The need for dangerous pesticides and chemicals is eliminated again because there is no soil and the grow beds are off the ground.

Simple and Fun – Aquaponics is a simple process once you’ve gotten to know the basics and it’s a lot of fun to watch your fish and plants grow, especially when you can see daily growth. Many classrooms use aquaponics as a great way to learn about ecosystems.

If you follow my "cut & paste" method, building your own aquaponics garden couldn’t be easier.
